Refrigerator Gap Filler Size & Measuring Guide
How Do You Accurately Measure for a Refrigerator Gap Filler?
You need two measurements: the cabinet-to-cabinet width (not the refrigerator width) and the vertical gap height. Measuring the opening — not the appliance — is the single most critical rule, because the cover spans the cabinet opening above the fridge.
Step-by-Step Measuring Guide
- Measure the width. Measure from the inside face of the left cabinet panel to the inside face of the right cabinet panel, at both the front and the back of the opening. Note whether your opening is 30, 33, or 36 inches.
- Measure the height. Measure the vertical distance from the top of the refrigerator to the underside of the upper cabinet, at the left, center, and right of the opening.
- (Optional) Measure upper cabinet depth. If your cabinet is unusually deep, note the depth so you can confirm the cover sits cleanly within the opening.
What Are the Standard Cabinet Opening Widths?
| Cover Size | Fits Cabinet Opening |
|---|---|
| 30-inch cover | Standard 30-inch openings |
| 33-inch cover | Standard 33-inch openings |
| 36-inch cover | Standard 36-inch openings |
Rule: If your width falls between standard sizes, round up to the next size and use the included trim kit.
How Does the Buildable Height Work?
The Refrigerator Gap Vent Cover is buildable and stackable — stack pieces to match your gap height. Need to fill a taller gap? Add pieces from additional packs and buy as many packs as your opening needs.
Stack pieces to match your measured gap height, adding packs as needed for taller openings.
Standard-Depth vs. Counter-Depth Refrigerators
The cover works with both standard-depth and counter-depth refrigerators as long as there is an open space between the top of the fridge and the cabinet above.
Why Check Manufacturer Clearance Requirements?
Even a vented cover needs to respect the clearances your appliance manufacturer specifies. Always confirm your refrigerator manufacturer's required clearances before installation.
